This Brochure describes ALL of our Youth Award Programs.
This Scholarship is open to all Eagle Scouts who are currently registered in an active unit, and have not reached their 19th birthday during the year of application.
The application year is the actual calendar year. The deadline for Saramana SAR Chapter entries is December 1st and the Chapter must notify the Florida SAR Society of the Chapter Winner by December 31st. Feel free to turn in your application “early” in order to qualify to be the National Winner! (See Below)
The Saramana SAR Chapter awards three cash scholarship awards, and college plans do not have to be completed in order to receive the cash award.
Please be aware that contestants must be present at the Award Luncheon in January for the SAR Eagle Scout Contest in order to receive any Cash or Medal Awards. Please visit our Saramana Calendar of Events and look under January for the Regular Luncheon Meeting and the exact date and time.
The Saramana SAR Chapter Cash Scholarship Awards are:
First Place Winner receives $1,500.00
2nd Place Runner-up receives $350.00
3rd Place Runner-up receives $150.00
If you are the winner of our local competition, your application will automatically be forwarded to the Florida SAR for the State competition.
First Place (Florida SAR) $1,000.00 *
2nd Place Runner-up $500.00
3rd Place Runner-up $250.00
*You can receive additional amounts of up to $300.00 from the Florida SAR Ladies Auxiliary
First Place (National Society) $10,000.00
2nd Place Runner-up $6,000.00
3rd Place Runner-up $4,000.00
Please include your 500 word Patriotic Theme Essay with the Application and Ancestor Chart.

Please note that the Required Forms will necessitate that you have and use the latest version of the “FREE” Adobe Reader.

Instructions: AFTER you have opened theEagle Scout Contest (Applicant Form) AND theFour-Generation Ancestor Chart (Applicant Form).
Please save the opened forms to your computer and SAVE the files with your name and the Contest name as the file name. For example, “Sam Compatriot Eagle Scout Contest.PDF” and "Sam Compatriot Ancestor Chart". By having your name as part of the “file name”, another contestant’s file can NOT be saved on top of your file. The folder where you save the documents is your choice. Just remember where you saved them.

The “Applicant” should complete the first part of the “Applicant Form” on Page 1, which would include the first seven rows thru Organization Mailing Address. The Saramana SAR Chapter Committee Chairman is responsible for completing the SAR Information. Please review the instructions and complete the form with all applicable details.
If there are ANY places on the form that request a “Signature”, please type in the appropriate name. These forms are NOT designed to be printed. After you have completed and saved the form to your computer, then the “Saved” form and any other requested documents are to be emailed to the Committee Chair named below, or absent a Committee Chair to the Chapter President named below. Hand written applications are NOT approved.
Contest entries MUST be submitted as PDF files attached to emails.
If possible, please request a “Read Receipt” so that you will know that your file was received.

Entrants need to complete only one application, which is the one for the Chapter competition. The Eagle Scout Local winner will be asked to read his Essay at the Chapter Awards Luncheon in January. Your lunch, and the lunch of one guest (parent or Scout Master), will be paid for by the local Chapter at this special event. Other guests are always welcome to make reservations and attend. The Eagle Scout Medal may be presented to the winner of the Scholarship Program at the local level during the Chapter Awards Luncheon.
The Eagle Scout Patch is available to each Eagle Scout who completes the Cash Scholarship requirements.
The Saramana SAR Chapter would be honored to receive Eagle Scout Recognition Requests to recognize any person that achieves the rank of Eagle Scout in Sarasota, Bradenton and Venice. Upon receipt of this request, Saramana will complete a recognition certificate. The Saramana Chapter would prefer to present The Eagle Scout Certificate at the Court of Honor, along with the SAR Eagle Scout Pamphlet that describes the SAR Scholarship Contest.
